President’s Message

The Algerian Academy of Science and Technology (AAST) was born in March 2015. The country’s highest authorities have decided to include it as a consultative body according to the country’s 2020 constitution text .This recognition granted to our young institution implies a huge responsibility for its members in the implementation of the President of the Republic aiming at national ,social and economic development. To this end , our academy is committed to undertaking all possible actions to strengthen and diversify the national economy, taking into account the evolution of knowledge and encouraging innovation.

As a leading scientific and technological reference .The ASST Is in charge of providing expertise and consultancy services to government institutions,private and public organizations.Thus , its members, with their numerous and varied skills, and aware of the responsability placed upon them, have taken a proactive approach,initiating studies on issues of national,regional,and global interests. This approach, based on permanent monitoring, enables us to detect rapid scientific and technological developments,alert decision-makers promptly,and propose means of adaptation or resilience
Besides, the ASST promotes science and technology in the socio-economic world , encourages collaborations with national scientific, consultative, and legislative institutions, to open up to the international community and to promote exellence .From this perspective , we are working to establish agreements to exchange expertise, to open up forums for scientific debate on current issues and to recognize merit by awarding prizes and distinctions.

Over the next three years, our academy will also focus on strengthening its scientific expertise through the recrutment of new permanent and associate members that will enrich and diversify its program of activities and broaden its horizon.In addition , the academy will host the annual meeting of the African academies of sciances , on November 2024, a great event under his Excellency the President of the Republic, entiteled “Resources, Science, and Technology for African Development.” This event represents an opportunity to disscus African problematics among themselves.An issue to which our country gives a significant importance.

I am certain that the founding members of our Academy will do their utmost to live up to the trust placed in them and the hopes placed on the Algerian Academy of science and technology.
