Impact of climate change on health

Palace of the culture-Algiers, February 8, 2024

Over the past few decades, Algeria has experienced the damaging effects of heat waves, heavy rainfall, floods, drought and forest fires. These climate-change occurrences have had detrimental effects on human health, the economy and ecosystems.
The Algerian greenhouse gas mitigation strategy primarily covers the energy, forestry, housing, transport, industry and waste management sectors. Public health, though adversely affected by climate change, is unfortunately not sufficiently taken into account in this strategy.
