The general assembly saw the handover of services from the outgoing to the new bureau of the academy, following the results of the elections for the renewal of AAST’s governing bodies. A ceremony was held to mark the occasion, at which the outgoing president, Professor Malika Allab, was honored in recognition of her achievements and sacrifices on behalf of the Academy.
During this meeting, and after the general policy speech by Mr. President, Professor Mohamed Hichem Kara, the agenda focused on the following points: (1) Revision of the composition of sections and commissions, (2) Operating procedures of the academy’s organs, (3) Program of action for 2024, (4) Choice and adoption of the theme of the annual meeting of the African Academies of Sciences scheduled to be held in Algiers in November 2024, (5) Financial review 2023 and projections for 2024.
