Annual Meeting of African Science Academies (AMASA) and 18th General Assembly of the Network of African Science Academies (NASAC) – Nairobi (Kenya), November 28-30, 2022.

The Kenya National Academy of Sciences (KNAS) hosted the eighteenth annual meeting (AMASA’18) of the Network of African Science Academies (NASAC) from November 28 to 30, 2020. The theme of the meeting was ” Enhancing capacities for sustainable agriculture and food systems in Africa”, divided into 5 sub-themes: (1) Science and emerging technologies in agriculture, (2) Climate change, environment and agriculture, (3) Science diplomacy, communication, policy analysis and food security, (4) Capacity building, science, technology and innovation, research products and commercialization, (5) Research capacity of universities and research centers in Africa. The goal was to provide an opportunity for participants to exchange experiences on the challenges facing agricultural development, and to recommend ways of ensuring food security in Africa.

The meeting was welcomed by Prof. Paul Baki, Honorary Secretary of the Kenya National Academy of Sciences (KNAS), the host country of AMASA 2022. The official opening was given by Prof. Ratemo Michieka, President of KNAS. The meeting was also attended by AAST Vice-President Prof. Mohamed Hichem Kara.
