A delegation comprising fourteen founding members of the Algerian Academy of Science and Technology (AAST), headed to Paris (France) to take part in the colloquium co-organized by the French Academy of Sciences (ASF) and the Algerian Academy of Science and Technology (AAST), on November 06 and 07, 2019, under the aegis of the Inter-academic Group for Development (GID), to which AAST is affiliated.
The event, dedicated to the environment and entitled Desertification, Environment, Urbanization: Scientific and Technological Challenges for Algeria, featured fruitful exchanges between AAST and ASF academics, and enabled them to lay the foundations for concrete actions to be undertaken jointly with a common vision of co-development in both countries and in the Mediterranean region. Further meetings, dedicated to the evaluation of these actions or to other topics of interest, are planned.
This symposium constitutes the first international meeting organized by AAST in conjunction with a foreign academy, with the support of GID, on a theme of common interest.
